It is a LIE to say they series wasn’t popular or mega popular before 2018 because Hollywood immediately tried to make a movie about the first game with scripting starting in 2007 two years after the release of the first game

Also, the only reason god of war 2018 even sold that much is because it was bundled with consoles pretty early on. Sony bundling their first party games with ps4s and ps5s has really skewed the numbers.
The GOW series was always popular. They’re only adapting the Norse saga because it’s the most recent one. I’m sure that some Greek flashbacks will be sprinkled throughout this adaptation.
