God Shammgod - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When he was known as Shammgod Wells, he played high school basketball at La Salle Academy in Manhattan. His teammates at La Salle Academy included future NBA player Metta World Peace (then known as Ron Artest) and former Providence College center Karim Shabazz. He was selected to the 1995 McDonald's All-American Team and recorded 9 points in the All-American game.[3] He also played with Kobe Bryantduring a summer on an AAU team. Kobe learned the cross-over dribble move from Shammgod during this time.[4]

Shammgod was nice with it but he is overhyped and a lot of this shyt is what I would call folklore. He may have been nice on the streets with it but his game didn't translate to organized ball like someone like Skip to my Lou's did. His numbers at Providence were not that great and i remember him being a poor shooter.

Shammgod could not have known about it, and I'm sure did invent it independently on his own, but this is one of rare moves (ok, there are like two  ) that originated in Europe.
It was done since the beginning of the 80s by Danko “El Killer del Perimetro” Cvjeticanin, his signature move.
He played professionally in Yugoslavia, Spain and Italy.
Today he is the the European scouting coordinator for the Nets.

The origin of the "Shammgod" crossover

Shammgod was more fluid about it (and did it in some great combinations) though...

I remember on either Live 96 or 97 his dribble was 99, but shooting was 50:lolbron:

What he said was right tho. 11 year olds know the move as the shamgod, but they may no exactly know him. If you can understand that :yeshrug:
