You have these hack white guys who go on stage and spout the most vile fukked up shyt they can possibly think of. Then someone goes “wtf” and they say “lol 1st amendment bro”.

ok that’s cool, but like you said, the 1st amendment is to protect people from being oppressed by the government. So these comics should be utilizing their rights to speak out against government oppression. Instead they are racists, and use it as an excuse to say horrendous shyt with no repercussions.

The thing comedians don't seem to understand is, saying a bunch of edgy shyt =/= comedy. Very, very, very few comedians have the ability to get a funny punchline out of tragic events. Very few. There's a thin line between edgy, and telling a perfect joke. Most of these comics say something edgy and offensive, and there's no punchline, no set-up, nothing at all, and they wonder why ppl get mad or don't laugh. It's like they're all doing failed Shock Jock impressions from a 90's era Howard Stern episode. And it falls flat everytime. Comedians have no self awareness. Ari Shaffir was basically ranting like a bitter Cac, and wonders why ppl aren't hee-heeing and yucking it up with him. No self awareness and until he started getting threats.


Think about how cringeworthy an unfunny a non-offensive joke is. Now multiply it times 10, when the joke is cringeworthy, unfunny, AND offensive. shyt storm.

There was no joke. Ari Shaffir's comment wasn't a joke. That was just a hateful, racist way of vilifying a black man. Him saying "maybe if he stayed in Charlotte he wouldn't have raped that woman." That's just his angle. It wasn't a joke. He knew what he was saying. He just tried to pass it off as a joke when he started getting the heat. I didn't even know he was a comedian until after. I love how people use 'freedom of speech' without understanding what it means.
It means you have the right to say as you wish without fear of the government censoring you or otherwise penalizing you for expressing your views. The government.

The first amendment does not protect you from a random person on the street hemming you up because of shyt you say. You can't claim freedom of speech to prevent a private citizen from running you a fade you talked your way into. Hell, there are still states with 'fighting words' laws on the books that actually legally indemnify a person from assault charges if it can be proven that the confrontation was instigated by words used toward them to drive the situation into violence.

I repeat: freedom of speech as a concept gets used wrong. The government can't disallow you from saying something. A nikka who doesn't like the stuff you're saying is not bound by that obligation.
