Or maybe there are those of us that can respect it's not as simple as going on stage and talking.

I do stand up and I know it's incredibly hard. You would struggle for years getting a tight 5 minutes. Then doing 30 minutes and then a whole hour.

Keeping an audience engaged, entertained and laughing for that long is one of the most difficult things to do.

But hey... anyone can do it right?

Put a stand up comedian on social media and he's still funny. Put a social media comedian on stage and they'll fail miserably if they've never done stand up before.

Edit: here's a simple analogy. Social media comedians are like street ballers. There are no barriers to entry. Anyone can gain a following by being flashy and great on the streets. But there's a reason they're not good enough for the NBA.

Successful and good stand up comedians are the NBA stars... they have the all round talent needed to be good at all aspects. Their skills aren't just limited to street ball. A good stand up comedian can improvise, deal with hecklers, is good off the cuff.
