
Not sure what you're saying. I can make a playlist on my 4s and add/remove track.
I've probably connected to iTunes like 5 time in the past 2 years. And that was just to update my new apps.
you can't make a smart playlist on the iPhone only a manual one. A smart playlist follows rules you set like this:
rule 1 artist contains 2Pac
rule 2 rating is 3 stars or better
rule 3 play count is > 5
That smart playlist goes through all your music and automatically creates a playlist with those specified rules. If you add more music that meets that criteria it automatically adds those songs to the playlist without you having to do anything. I don't use manual playlist anymore. Once you get thousands of songs on the device it's too tedious to manually make and manage them.
The problem is the iPhone doesn't update the metadata on the device. It only keeps track of the metadata so If I listen to No More Pain by 2Pac then the play count should go up by 1. In order for the smart playlist to actually reflect that I have to plug the iPhone up to a PC and sync it.
