Before Haile Selassie was deposed, a major region in central northern Ethiopia called Wollo had one of the worst famines in Ethiopias history which killed 300000 people. Most revolutions occured as a result of famines. Progressive Ethiopians who were educated in the west and had experienced proper representative democracy disliked the monarchy. They saw the technocratic class and monarchy(who all came from a single ethnic group) as incompetent leaders who failed to create industry and feeds its people so they sfarted a socialism movement. The government at the time only had members from the dominant Amhara ethnic group and most people who werent Amhara and even those who where Amhara got tired of one ethnic group holding all the power so Communism seemed like a better deal. The Derge had members and leaders from every ethnic group including the historically marginalised Oromo ethnic group. Heck Mengistu Hailemariam was a half Oromo half nilote from southern Ethiopia and he became the leader of Ethiopia. Having an Oromo president was unheard of in Ethiopia due to the ethnic superiority of the highland ethnic groups where most lowland ethnic groups were considered culturally inferior and unfit to lead a country




Yes socialism failed big time, and is a major reason why Ethiopia was fuked for decades but initially it had noble cause and people thought it would change the country for the better.

There over a dozen famines before Rastafari was even in power. However when Haile was old, sick and weak, the west used propaganda inside and outside the country to bring dissent. Ill agree that there were foreign powers who had a vested interest in seperating Eritrea from Ethiopia such as Egpyt and the Arab league who saw Ethiopia as a threat to their hegemony in the region and so otmwqs in their interest to destabilise Ethiopia and fund the seperatist movememts. But when it came to the monarchy and the technocratic class, their downfall was self inflicted. If there was proper representation of major ethnic groups in the government of Ethiopia after WW2, not that puppet shiet, the monarchy would have survived. The Amhara regime didnt want to share powers and were towards the Oromos and the Tigrayans, so people revolted when the country was hit with famine.

I just get a lil tired of this perception that BW are gonna be hyper-sexy, above average in some places but not others. It's one of my gripes with the

Here's a little fun fact: Every pic posted in the OP came from the same Eritrean women Instagram page..didnt go through picking out all the lighter ones, too lazy...just picked from first 20 or so that was there..so lets not make this about American men's beauty standards...these are Eritrean beauty standards, not just there, but around the world from Asia to India to the Caribbean. Colorism is a byproduct of White supremacy so lets not come in here to cherry pick Black men...it goes way deeper than that.
