The view from the empire state building observation deck is incredible on a clear day, it's also very quiet up there which feels weird considering the hustle and bustle of midtown.Only go to Times Square if you want to catch a movie or go to one of them comedy shows (never been so can't speak on it), also for the pictures with all the lights and shyt and sit on the red steps and chill for a bit. Other than that shyt is filled with slow walking tourists, chain restaurants, and nikkas in Elmo costumes.
Definitely not the NY experience. If you gonna be there might as well walk down to 34th Street and check out the Empire State Building if you into architecture.
I was in times sqaure a couple of days ago and randomly got a fist bump from Batman, I was caught off guard considering I'm a grown man:Philhaha:

Sheryl Lee Ralph is in Wicked right now.Just going for a weekend. Mainly want to take photos and just chill.
Last time I went to NYC was 2002 , so yeah it's been a while.
Should I rent a car? Should I do a shuttle from LaGuardia to my hotel? (Staying in financial district)
nah, don't rent a car. since it's for a weekend you could do a shuttle but you can take the q70 bus to roosevelt to take the E train all the way to the financial district
What are some cool restaurants?
just going to assume you're staying in manhattan since it's for the weekend
just try some stuff you haven't had before, there's food from every corner of the earth here
the original shake shack is 23rd street and madison avenue, it's so good .
get street meat/ halal cart food (authentic NY shyt) ... dont' get halal guys though, it's touristy af .. get anything else pretty much
What areas should I avoid?[
you'll be pretty straight in manhattan, aagain assuming you're not leaving manhattan
just be careful, keep trackof your belongings, dont look like a frail person

I still remember when Shake Shack was a novelty burger spot in Madison Square Park with ridiculous lines.![]()
Man Imma give you the real. You really have to specify WHAT exactly you want to eat. You can spend a month on Amsterdam Ave alone and not know every good restaurant.
But fukk it:
NYC Pizza:
I like the first pizza spot in Penn Station; also Caesar's Palace pizza on Amsterdam; Patsy's in East Harlem/El Barrio and ALSO in the Bronx (more swanky)
Chinese food:
fukk it; all of Chinatown and Flushing, Queens for AUTHENTIC Cantonese food
Best tea - mint tea on Steinway St. in Astoria aka Little Egypt. Best food trucks are in Queens IMO
Harlem: I still prefer Sylvia'; never could get down with Amy Ruth's dry chicken and stale biscuits; try B2Harlem (formerly Billie's Black)-->nicely hidden in Harlem too; great African restaurants all over though my favorite is Chez Jacob
Bronx: I already mentioned Patsy's and Jamaican food was also mentioned earlier; also there are many Ghanaian restaurants there too
And Lucho Barrios Restaurant has some of the BEST AUTHENTIC Ecuadorian food you will eat.A literal hole-in-the-wall spot
Won't speak much on BK as I have not hung around there in years but they have a good Salvadoran restaurant in Williamsburg (hipster central); and I remember the Roti and West Indian food (also in Queens--Southside) being good in Flatbush and there used to be a spot my friend took me to on Newkirk Ave.
No way will you go to a 1/2 of this on a weekend trip. But there are options other than Manhattan. Plus, you need to go through Queens (borough #1) to go anywhere in the city.
Thing about NYC is you can ask 5 people the best BLANK restaurant and you will get 5 different answers ... and they all may be right too. You just gotta go.
@CashmereThoughts gave you some gems too. Props to all who contributed. And @Colicat ain't lying. ENY is beautiful this time of year. Especially at night, the stars come out.
