Gold is used in alot of machines, smartphones and others and is intrinsically valuable for it's conductive properties and is rarity... if it was worthless how come you can sell a chunk of it for a small fortune???

That's cool. But even in terms of the metals used in technology there are others that are much more valuable.
And even then...these metals aren't edible, they don't keep us warm, and we can't live in them
