Goldberg was a special case that was mishandled by both WCW and WWE. He had amazing in ring..non verbal charisma, and nobody wanted to see him chain wrestle.....and you didn't have to do big long promos either...and you book accordingly. Unfortunately Bischoff had no idea what he was going to do after Goldberg won the title, and I truly believe Vince and HHH just wanted to prove he wasn't good enough.....not use his strong points and hide his weakness to make money.

The INVASION should have been Bischoff leading Goldberg, Sting, Booker and the 3 piece nWo into the WWE....now THAT would have been the perfect capper to the Monday Night War.

I remember being a kid and when I first saw the invasion, I kept waiting for the big names to come next..........and they never did.

Sting vs. Taker, Stone Cold vs. Goldberg etc.....never happened

Here are the highlights:

. It pissed me off, but it didn’t bother me. I mean, stuff like that didn’t have to be done to me because I’d been there and done that in another and I’ll never forget; I’m riding with Kevin Nash and…what’s his name, one of the wrestlers……. god he had the flock….Raven. Raven was riding with us, and I go to sit in the front seat and he goes “oh hold on a second”. He goes “you gotta pay your dues”. And I turn around and I said “listen bytch. I payed my dues by being on the football field and having two to three hundred pound dudes trying to rip my head off every play. So if you don’t want to consider that as paying my dues then you and I, we’re going to have to throw down.”
Raven my dude I hate it had to be him

pretty much this, they taught him how to politic for his spot, but never gave him game about character development. I forgot who said it but "where was he supposed to go after he lost?"

that is a fair question but honestly i do not believe it mattered, at least not back in 98-99. in fact the very IDEA of having goldberg lose shouldn't have even been a thought yet.

they could have rode that train for another 2 years before that option even presented itself. guy was bordering on hulk hogan levels of over. no reason to believe that people wouldn't keep paying to see him win. he was that good and that believable.

i honestly don't know when the time would have been right, but starrcade 98 was definitely NOT it.
