I'm not about that stem life, and I'm not even gonna waste my time. Im trash at math.

What are other majors that can give you a good paying career/ or at least some type of good paying job.

I literally have no clue cuz all I hear is stem.
Heard about that too, how much math is in that.
Good ass info!

I think with accounting and finance I need to be well in math?
I'm a government accountant and i'm below average at math. I have never took calculus on any level and barely passed trigonometry in college. The math involved in accounting is very basic.

English is actually more helpful than math in accounting since you have to interpret laws, rules and regulations. Accounting is more about tracking money...where it goes and when it goes there.

I majored in Accounting so I had all the courses. I had a finance course, some business law classes and finite math (which is like a Statistics course but a little easier). Intermediate Accounting is the hardest and is considered the 'weed out' course. The tax class was tough as well. Advanced accounting wasn't too bad.

I only have my bachelors and a couple of certs (government - CGFM and CDFM). If you plan on having your CPA you'll have to take a few more accounting courses at the graduate level. Many schools have a 4+1 plan...bachelors in accounting, masters in accounting...that will qualify your needs to sit for the CPA.

I feel like I am worse the average, I always was the worse in my class. I would be a fool with my skill level to try to be an engineer.

Many have said it isn't cut for anybody, many people drop out of it, I have no passion for it, I just want money, and I'm trash at math, so I feel I would be wasting valuable time and money trying to do it. It's basically, if they can't do it, how the hell can I?

I'm not being negative, just realistic.

Thanks for your help bro, I might just try it out tho. The pay makes me want to.
Forget about what everyone said. I remember hearing horrible stories about the Calculus and Organic Chemistry sequences, but those were nothing compared to other courses. I agree with being realistic so I'm not saying you should do it.

However, from my experience, of the people who make it, you have the truly "gifted" ones, but those are the minority. Then, you have the rest who work hard, late into the night/morning, office hours, work in groups, and so forth. The ones who didn't make it weren't prepared coming straight out of high-school or weren't willing to work hard enough once in the major. But forget all that if you're really just in it for the pay. You'd be miserable. Besides, there are far easier ways to make a decent wage, many of which have already been mentioned. Regardless of what you choose, at least have some confidence in your ability to succeed.

I appreciate the advice and on the part with having more confidence in my success.

It's just when you been trash at math for so long and you hear you're only options for good money are math very intensive, you lose confidence. And it seems college is the only way to make it at times, I think even with trades you have to know a certain level of math.

Then you hear all of the people that majors in shyt majors broke as shyt, and I fear that deeply. I will be successful no matter what.

Thank you for the help bro.

Finance.....can get into many departments in big banks.

Corporate banking will be here forever.

Good salary and job security because their scared of lawsuits.
Only if you go to a specific sub-set of schools though.
They aren’t hiring non-magna/summa grads from small state universities to work in iBanking.
Unless OP is going to an Ivy/Morehouse or Howard/Public Ivy or large tech school they’ll be overlooked.

Lies.
Penn State had a GREAT finance school.

We have plenty of people at my job that went to local state universities as well.

Math isn’t hard, mane.
I teach math to high schoolers, and most of these kids don’t know their multiplication tables and subtract using their fingers. But we’re on functions now, and nearly all of them have a working understanding and can solve the basics.

It’s all about repetition. Get on KhanAcademy and start at the lowest level of necessarily, you can be competent with the necessary maths if you really put in the effort.

Listen. My homie said he was gonna go into the highest paying field. He found it was petroleum engineering. Gas companies will pay you shyt tons. Find out what courses you need, my homie wasnt the smartest dude but he had a plan and hes currently in Houston working for gas companies making high 6 figures

Stop lying to these people. He is not making in the "high six figures" unless he is an exec at a very large gas company.

That’s why I said “small state school,” Penn State is large, and nationally recognized, same for OSU, UMich, Arizona, Cal, etc.
And most corporate banking hiring comes from laterals, interns who are jumping onboard, and on campus interviews.
You sure those guys are straight out of college?
