Rams own LA, niners would own NorCal....its not about who fans want to see - as discussed in many of the football is dying threads - it's about ownership of the market. Also, The niners aren't going to draw in the raider fanbase up here, especially not with us sucking and them being on the come up. That's half a market lost, and that half is still bigger than the Vegas market. Like I said, I don't know that the league will make it that easy. They'll get out here themselves and find some valley billionaire to put up money before just rolling over on this Vegas project.
The Rams are here in LA and they still show Raider games on local tv here in LA. The only thing is that if the Rams are playing at home- a 1pm game- The Rams game will be the only game on local television at that time..The rival network will not show a different game going up against the Rams 1pm home game. So last week, locally, we had the Rams @Lions at 10am and at 1pm the Chiefs
@Raiders and on CBS and Fox showed the Cowboys
@Packers. This week the Rams are in London at 6:30am which the entire country will see then we locally get the Raiders @Jaguars at 10am and so forth.
So basically they'll still show the Raiders in the Bay Area even if they move to Vegas. The 49ers will own the market and more than likely the only time the Raiders wouldn't be on local tv is when the Niners have a 1pm home game- unless the Raiders were to have a 10am gave out of state somewhere. The league wouldn't play dumb and not show Raider games in the Bay and LA cause they'll still need a large chunk of those fans to travel to Vegas for a Raiders game.
The NFL always wants to sights to compete with each other so I'm sure they'll sniff around the bay to drum up some kind of savior/hope but in the end I don't see them turning down $750 million in public tax money from a city.. that's unprecedented and unheard of. They did the same here in LA with the Carson stadium project and the Rams proposed stadium. The Carson project was nothing but a smoke screen/pipe dream. And a Bay Area billionaire won't be able to do jack squat if Mark Davis doesn't want to sell a nice chunk of the team., which he won't do
