These two albums were like the score to my life that accompanied me at an age where sh1t was really about to hit the fan. First time I heard Git Up Get Out I actually had to stop and be like gotdamn, is these muthafvckas talkin to me when I first heard it:wtf::damn::ohhh:

That cut RIGHT THERE had me checkin for that fat funny lookin/soundin cat that was spittin some real nikka sh1t....My theme music, couldn't shake that hook, it was ingrained. Seein potnas you played ball with paralyzed from getting shot or killed, locked up for the next 20, or just flat out doin nothin.

That cut was just a lil reminder for me to CONTINUE to handle my business, persevere and accomplish everything I set out to do, despite obstacles. I mean, as a young black teen tryna make decisions that would define the next 5-10 years of my life, Soul Food and Still Standing was my soundtrack. Them albums spoke to my spirit.

So when this sh1t premiered....:mindblown::blessed::steviej:

Lemme tell yall something...Nobody, and I mean NOBODY had ever heard or seen no sh1t like this before out the south or anywhere else for the most part, real muthafvckin talk. Down south cats speakin on the new world order? I swear one of my boy's reaction at the time..."new world order? The fvck is that?" :laff:

But anyways, I could never decide on these two albums....My heart always say Soul Food but when I listen to this sh1t right here for the 2,395,471 time......

"And make sure that no one
ever forgets, its immortalized
on wax,Cd's and cassettes,
and when someone goes to
the store and purchases it
for 10, the LIFE CYCLE
starts all over again,and I
was granted as music as my
soulmate to procreate, and
give back what I was given, a
LIFE WORTH LIVIN!!!!!"

They don't hear you Lo!!! His verse on this song was some of the realest sh1t from the heart a muthafvcka ever spit.

I still listen to both regularly. Soul Food is special to me though. Was having a bad trip on acid and listening to that album helped calm me down and put me in a better state of mind.
