Had to go with Still Standing. It had to grow on me because of how much more experimental the music was but once it did I loved it. The lyrics were definitely stepped up on that album too.

:wow: at all the comments. I feel the same way brehs. Goodie MOb was more than just a rap group to me :to:

They confirmed the decision i had made and path i was taking to be more aware and conscious. It was a spring board that sent me into so many directions in search of "knowledge".

These two albums have something to do with the man i am today.

i really think if they had put beautiful skin out 1st world party would have never happened because they would have went platinum. at the same time the plan during that time was for cee-lo to do a solo afterwards and khujo and t-mo to do a lumberjack. i wanna say around the still standing release gipp said he didnt want to do a solo at that point. so who knows what would have happened to them if that had materialized.

they really thought the dungeon family album was gonna be the salvation of goodie mob, but it didnt sell. then khujo lost his leg, and everything seemed to add to the friction and distance between cee-lo and the rest of them.

love those two albums as much as any other.

They way Cee-Lo channeled his inner hood Martin/Malcolm on "Fighting" shakes me up to this day. "Yeah it's true, Uncle Sam wants you to be a devil too. See he's jealous because his skin is a curse...but's what's worse, is if I put it in a verse y'all listen to some bullshyt first!"

Artists owe it to the kids to give them food for thought like this. I'm blessed to have been a hip hop fan in the 90's.

Goodie Mob - I Didn't Ask To Come - YouTube

I think about shyt like this all the time

"Ain't no use in being sad, leavin here was probably the best gift he ever had, we should be glad. Maybe his life was something that he had to give, to show me that I need to be responsible by how I live."

:damn:

Khujo damn near droppin his end of the casket because his palms is wet, to Lo finding solace through the death of his loved one......

Soul Food was like journey, the sh1t was so relatable. Damn near everything they was speakin on I had went through or how I was feeling at the time. This was the first album that had me reflecting like that for the ENTIRE album.

^^^^What does it is Lo's singin at the very end of Guess Who :sadbron:

his whole verse felt like he was speaking about me :to:

my mama, destination unknown...
stepped out on your own...
you was barely even grown..
but you're still my mama.....
i never knew my dad...
