Breh, Rich Harrison, who also produced "1 Thing" also produced "Crazy In Love". He only produced one song on B'Day. Either way, you're wrong because "Crazy In Love" dropped before "1 Thing".

Crazy In Love don't sound like 1 Thing breh...but Bey was inspired by 1 Thing and ran with that style

Rich Harrison was working with Amerie before Bey if you wanna go that angle

How did she run with the style of "1 Thing" if she was already doing this on "Crazy In Love". And yes, Rich Harrison was working with Amerie before he was working with Beyonce. That doesn't change the fact that "Crazy In Love" was before "1 Thing", so how exactlt did she run with that style?

What's funny is J. Lo's "Get Right" dropped the same time as "1 Thing", which is also produced by Rich Harrison. Did J. Lo run with that style too or was this just Rich Harrison's signature sound that he was giving artists who sought him out for production like most producers do?

In real time, ppl knew Bey stole Amerie's style and sound

You gotta be top 5 in the beyhive :mjlol:

Bey always gets "inspired" by others...not an original bone in her body

1 Thing is an infinitely better of a song than Goodies....The video for Goodies is what y'all have nostalgia for.

Amerie really did get a bad break in the industry, she did get a silver lining in that 1 Thing ended up on GTA giving the song a second run because of how popular the game was.

No, people created a narrative and ran with it. I could care leass about a Bee Hive. I do care about facts and the facts is that "Amerie's sound" was basically Rich Harrison's sound. I could Monica and Brandy took Aaliyah's style and ran with it considering Aaliyah was one of the first to work with Missy, Timbaland, and Darkchild. Brandy's Afrodisiac was helmed by Timbaland. Missy wrote and produced on a handful of Monica's later albums. That doesn't mean they bit Aaliyah or took her style and ran with it. There is a such thing as influence or an artist simply wanting to work the same people.

This actually isn't as hot of a take as you'd think.

I'm well aware of the narrative, but again it doesn't make it fact. Rich Harrison is the producer. It was his sound. He was free to provide that to whomever he wanted and he did. Remove "Crazy In Love" from Beyonce and she still has "Baby Boy", "Naughty Girl" and "Me, Myself, and I" all from the same album and none of them sounding like what people categorize as an Amerie song. Go to B'Day. Are we really saying that "Ring The Alarm", "Upgrade You", "Get Me Bodied", and "Irreplaceable" sound like an Amerie record?

Amerie NEVER had the big follow-up single. She had big lead singles like "Why Fon't We Fall In Love" and "1 Thing". That is why she wasn't bigger than what she was even songs as big as "1 Thing".

The idiocy in saying she was sabotaged by Beyonce or that Beyonce took her style and caused her demise is laughable. Amerie was out here with "Why Fon't We Fall In Love" which was bigger than Beyonce's "Work It Out" the same year and she still only went gold.

"Oh-oh-oh-oh-ohhhhhh" vocal riff > the entire Goodies song.

Easiest for match-up for me so far. 1 Thing stomps.

Regarding Beyonce and Amerie, I always thought it wasn't but this song as well that has a decent resemblence

Remember, Rich Harrison wrote Crazy in Love and produced "Why Don't We (Fall in Love)" the year before. I think the verses have similar, but different slower/faster cadences.

They both use call and response in the songwriting. Call with the singing and respond with space.

If you would've picked "Oh" instead of "Goodies" I would've voted for "Oh" over "1 Thing" :wow: round here we're riding slow

"Why Don't We Fall in Love" > "1 Thing", Amerie with her real nose >
