TYRONE GA!
Have we even seen the terms of these songs?

For already made songs a company bought the publishing to I can see companies being allowed to do that. But to use entirely newly created songs and lyrics with an artist’s voice via AI??? No way that’s in the agreement on these publishing sales

Will be a quick fad that dies out.. Couple of icons that are dead or to old to make new music will eat.

In the article, they claim the artist will have the option to in or out. We will see.

I think the bigger problem isn't mimicking known artist. Its the ability to make more studio singers out of the common man. I don't have to use Drakes voice if the software can simply make me sing/rap.

But the artist has to agree, they said it themselves. Same reason why a lot of old artists are looking for their cuts on streaming music since that was not part of the landscape years ago.
The artist may not agree when they're alive, but posthumous records? What's to stop the label from releasing a "new" Tina Turner album if her estate is fine with it (after receiving a check)? This is bad.

I think they are going to realize that monetizing this is a suckers bet because how to you license a voice and lyrics unless the uploaded titles it “Drake” and what if the version that gets more views is fake labeled under a no existent artist?

What if you're tired of listening to the old music?
Good point. For me personally though, there’s so much music out there that I haven’t heard yet that I don’t need to listen to fake music… unless they get me somehow. I’m not longing for a Pac and DMX song so I’m good.

We’re probably less than 5 years out from a completely AI generated artist having hits in the radio.

10 years out from a hologram that makes and performs its own music.

No, the artist doesn't have to agree after they've sold the rights.

You really think they're gonna give an artist millions to not be able to use the content how they want?

This is like selling your house and then thinking that you'll have control over what color they paint the walls.
I don't think they'll be able to use it for new lyrics. They only own what already exists. So they can take verses and put them over new music, a la the traditional cut and paste method (posthumous albums), and do whatever with the songs that already exists, but i doubt they'll be able to take syllables from different words to compile entirely new words and lyrics.

The artists only sold the specific music, not the voice. However, they're going to find loopholes.

I think you guys are right as far as the tech goes but I think these labels know deep down the thing that makes people connect with music and buy into an artist is the personality behind it. Knowing that shyt came from a computer ain't it. Same goes with film. Whos gonna be there to collect the awards if a computer wrote it? You need a human to relate to behind the art so I do think it'll progress to where its possible but it'll never replace actual artists outside of visual art.

The reason visual art is dying off is because most visual artists aren't known for their art, just paid for commissions etc. Same goes for making logos or whatever you need made. You don't give a fukk about the artist just what they doing. With Music, Film, etc we care about the artists.
