There was time when you could Google ANYTHING and you would find exactly what you want. Even the obsolete thing and you would find it in the first page. Today, you search anything it is ALWAYS mainstream or nowhere near what you want.

Example,

Randomly went to page 1655 of the Locker room.

Enter a thread called ‘Unfortunately this Coli post shows the disrespect towards Skilled Trades’

Went to this post

https://www.thecoli.com/posts/28904824/

’’ Self driving trucks will happen within the next 10 years. You guys have no clue how fast the industry is moving in this direction’’

Google search this post and nothing,

Self driving trucks will happen within the next 10 years. You guys have no clue how fast the industry is moving in this direction. - Google Search

In the early days of google, I would find this post exactly, I would always find what I wanted to find, and always the exact sentence I type. This doesn’t happen anymore,

Same applies to youtube. Those days of entering the “dark weird or odd” side of YouTube is nonexistence.

Unless someone gives me the DIRECT link of the video or channel, I would never find it through normal searching.

MF Do you know how much data is on the internet and you search a very general phrase with one of the hottest buzzwords of our times and want Google to Link an obscure coli thread on the first page??

Hint add site:thecoli.com and then search for your quote....

like

site:thecoli.com Self driving trucks will happen within the next 10 years. You guys have no clue how fast the industry is moving in this direction

Who searches with quotation? Plus not everything is forum based, sometime you want to search for an blog, article, website and just a comment, yet if you write the exact sentence you don’t find it no more.

So the answer is yes, youtube and google have changed their original search mechanism and mainstream and money pusher get to tell the narrative and the real free factual information or information you seek cannot be found.

It doesn’t matter the size of the internet.

Imagine if someone wrote a comment on a blog about Cast Iron Kitchenware, and wrote a sentence NO ONE has on the internet in a manner which isn’t duplicated. A Google search of the exact comment should give you the link you desire but this doesn’t happen no more. Google and youtube aren’t specific anymore with their searches.

Yeah because you can pay to have your pages appear on Google front page of searches

Now everyone is doing it through as revenue.

Money talks brehs
yep, espescially when your trying to market and spread word on your site/business its practically one of the first maneuvers you're taught.

And of course people with their rational are gonna think doing so will help them(and it does many times)

There is specific syntax to put in search bars that is used to narrow your search. Quotations is one of em. I get your point but the internet is huge, it seems you do not know how to efficiently use Google and its commands to locate what you want.

The original point of Google was a simple search engine to help you find and locate EXACTLY what you wanting. Putting certain syntax doesn’t narrow or help you locate anything since Google in majority of the cases won’t show what you want at all, or puts it in the last pages or sometimes doesn’t search the sentence in its fullest. Algorithm has changed and changing your searching phrases wont alleviate the issue

I thought everyone did. Google has been around for decades, I thought everyone knew how to use quotations. Seems like the search engine isn't the problem here....

OP is right. Google manipulates search both in google-search and on youtube.

They have a policy on youtube of prioritizing "non-fringe opinion" safe content - which ultimately means corporate. They also do this in the suggested videos algorithm.

A lot of the smaller channels have noticed and have spoken about it.

youtube algorithm corporate - YouTube

They manipulate search as well by double guessing what you mean.

The clock is ticking on the usefulness of google search.

Thought so. I’m definitely not “tech savvy” but notice this pattern over the years. No amount of syntax or quotation solves this problem. Sigh, google was a wonderful tool at the start, hopefully someone creates a direct threat and a search engine that totally independent and free from these algorithm.

And to the poster who said duckduckgo, I see no difference in the search pattern between Google. Maybe they offer more privacy but search results are the same and very limited.
