Don't they more or less hold the user back from piracy? I think I remember reading that somewhere

no, you can still get whatever you want. You just can't share for a long time if you're still using torrents.

CHICAGO — Google wants to bring "Fiber," its super-fast Internet service, to Chicago — a high-speed, high-tech offering that would compete directly with existing providers like Comcast.

The tech giant — which just opened a new office in the West Loop — announced Tuesday morning that it will "explore" bringing Google Fiber to Los Angeles and Chicago.

The two cities would be the largest to date eyed by Google, which previously launched the service it calls "faster than a Cheetah" in places like Provo, Utah and Kansas City.

"With the help of gigabit Internet, Chicago and L.A. can boost their creative cultures with Internet speed to match their size," Google wrote in a blog post announcing the move.

Thanks Christ. These fakkits at comcast throttle my shyt for about four days last week.

I knew someone with Google Fiber and he got hit with multiple warnings damn near immediately for virtually anything he...."obtained"....no matter the source. He never got a single warning prior to that, or since he got rid of it.

to be honest, I just got on a new promotion with comcast, so I'm not even mad at them now. but I'm moving this week, so hopefully they don't fukk me over on the installation.

I just LOVE the threat of google fiber coming so comcast can't even try to get us on a data cap cuz there will be another internet option.
