If you go to the booth, Apple Music, Spotify, and Tidal is name drop in every streaming service discussion with no mentions of Google Play Music which IMO is better than all the rest just off YouTube Red alone.

I will never understand why Google spent years of building the Android brand to only ditch it for possibly the least catchiest name anyone could come up with "Google Play". That sounds like an instruction to go to Google.com and search for/Google "play _____", and not an actual app/program/. This goes for everything Google play movies, Google play books, Google play games, Google play music; they all need to be renamed. I mean I get it, Google is a strong recognize brand but most people recognize it as search engine and nothing else.

Google seems to overestimate the power of their brand name outside search. Putting "Google XYZ service name" in every app is not necessary.

Apple can get away with it because they have a track record of taking their time to get things right in most of their services. Google has far more failure projects than Apple does.

As for Spotify and Tidal, they are only meant to do one thing, stream music and nothing else. They're fine in their naming scheme.

They're doing something right. I wish I had google money.

Google is a bit more inventive than Apple, but Apple is currently winning the war. Personally, from a consumer standpoint looking at the future, it's good Google and Apple are competing. It'll bring about great new advances and technologies. Put MS in there as well, on the software front, and shyt is looking good for consumers.

That's what I'm saying. They need to add original names to their service.

Since they bought out SoundCloud, they should rename Google Play Music, "SoundCloud". And they could add "by Google "at the end if they want everyone to know it's their. SoundCloud way more catchy.

Google Play Movies should just merge with YouTube. It's in the same category.

Anything but just books would be an upgrade.

Cortana, siri, lezi, bixby all way better name than lame ass Google Assistant. I almost want to get a Window phone off the strength of the name Cortana alone.

I swear all these services is just Google's way of promoting their search engine. Rather their primary mission of app/services actual service.

They kinda have and haven't...which is fukking retarded. If you buy/rent a flick off Play movies you can watch them on YT on your comp...but you still need the play movie app if you want to watch it on mobile/tablets/etc...like :what:..fukking stupid you can't just use the YT app.

This is the WOAT. Whenever I see or hear about streaming wars on podcasts or twitter, I'm always left thinking like you guys do know there are more than 3 options available right.

Google has forever had a branding and marketing problem. From their phones to their services, no one ever know they exist beyond people like us that follow these things.

Agreed.

They are brilliant at technical tasks. Not so great at building a cohesive branding strategy.

Don't they have like three competing messenger services? Allo/Duo/Hangouts? DaFuk?

A new CEO with something other than a technical background might help.

it's annoying. google have a lot of great consumer products but never commits to marketing it. they're always creating something new rather than pushing their current stuff. ppl can shyt on apple all they want but their marketing is the best and that's a big reason why they're on of the best tech companies out there.

215 Uptown!
Put me on :ohhh:

What it really comes down to is all these streaming services charges the same 10$ per month. Google music gives u the best bang for your buck because with that same 10 you also get youtube red(ad free youtube and the ability to listen to videos while your screen is off on mobile and being able to download videos directly to mobile and watch them offline)

Google music also lets you upload your own music and it instantly syncs across all devices. So the small number of releases that are apple/tidal exclusive just grab that zippy and upload it yourself!!

Google music also syncs up with google voice for voice recognition :wow:

Once that soundcloud integration hits google music it's a wrap :wow: You can already save soundcloud tracks directly to your google drive.
