and yeah it's a First World Problem, but not being able to install the apps I want on my phone is crazy
I read somewhere that you would still be able to sideload with ADB so it didn't seem as bad, but even that concession (I don't think this is the right word) is just annoying. And it might actually be that bad:

Unlocking the bootloader on the phone I got this year was enough of a struggle, and the dev community has withered thanks to decisions like this, ugh
