GOP Rep. Mo Brooks: Dems are waging a “war on whites”
The Alabama congressman also claimed dividing people along race lines is President Obama's favored strategy

Less than a week after the GOP decided to reach out to Latinos by voting to deport Dreamers (undocumented immigrants who were brought to the country at a young age), Alabama congressman Mo Brooks has given the GOP’s much ballyhooed rebranding an extra bit of “oomph” by claiming Democrats are waging a “war on whites.”

“This is a part of the war on whites that’s being launched by the Democratic Party. And the way in which they’re launching this war is by claiming that whites hate everybody else,” Brooks said in defense of his party’s stance on immigration during a Monday appearance on noted xenophobe Laura Ingraham‘s popular radio show.

“It’s part of the strategy that Barack Obama implemented in 2008, continued in 2012, where he divides us all on race, on sex, greed, envy, class warfare, all those kinds of things,” Brooks continued.

Brooks next went on to defend his party’s base’s rigid stance against any kind of immigration reform that isn’t focus primarily on deportation, arguing that opposing a pathway to citizenship and further immigration is beneficial to all races.

“It doesn’t make any difference if you’re a white American, a black American, a Hispanic American, an Asian American or if you’re a woman or a man,” Brooks said. “Every single demographic group is hurt by falling wages and lost jobs.”

Brooks then accused Democrats of demagoguery, saying that the only way their immigration policies will be accepted by the public is through race-baiting and appealing to voters’ baser emotions.

“Democrats, they have to demagogue on this and try and turn it into a racial issue, which is an emotional issue, rather than a thoughtful issue,” Brooks explained. “If it becomes a thoughtful issue, then we win and we win big. And they lose and they lose big.”

You can listen to Brooks’ appearance with Ingraham — who, it should be noted, described the congressman’s comments as “a little out there” — here.

Glad to see the GOPs minority outreach is going so well. :troll:

Do people here (especially white posters) agree with this sentiment? Is the GOP waging a war on whites? Do you think this is what many GOP voters believe, and do you think this kind of sentiment affects their voting habits? Or is he just an outlier espousing a sentiment that is uncommon among GOP voters?

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) on Monday did not back away from his accusation that Democrats are waging a "war on whites" during an interview with AL.com.

On Monday morning, Brooks told radio host Laura Ingraham that Democrats have made Republicans' push for stronger border security about race.

"This is a part of the war on whites that’s being launched by the Democratic Party. And the way in which they’re launching this war is by claiming that whites hate everybody else," he said.

Ingraham told him that his comment was "a little out there."

During an interview with AL.com on Monday afternoon, Brooks defended and elaborated on his comment.

"In effect, what the Democrats are doing with their dividing America by race is they are waging a war on whites and I find that repugnant," he told AL.com.

"They're attacking, by the Democrats' opening soliciting votes of people based on skin color, they in turn are attacking whites based on skin color and that's wrong. Nobody should be attacked based on skin color," he continued.

Brooks then accused Democrats of injecting race into every issue they can, not just immigration issues.

"The Democrats do it on a regular basis and you can see it in the campaign appeals that they make based on skin color. I don't know of a single Republican who has made an appeal for votes based on skin color. I don't know of one," he said. "The Democrats routinely make appeals based on race and they get away with it. It's repugnant to ever make an appeal based on race."

When asked if using the phrase "war on whites" would distract from his message, Brooks said he does the best he can to call attention to the issue.

"I'm one of those who does not believe in racism and I believe everyone should be treated equally as American citizens. It's high time folks started calling out the Democrats for their racial appeals," he said. "Certainly if you were to flip the coin and a white person were to say vote for me because I'm white, it would be an uproar and deservedly so. So why do we allow blacks to say vote for me because I'm black or Hispanics vote for me because I'm Hispanic? Race is immaterial and everybody ought to be treated the same."

Damn shame that the politics game is so unfair for whites these days. If it wasn't for minorities playing the damn race card all the time, we wouldn't have such a disproportionately low percentage of whites (81%) in Congress compared to the population (63%).:mjlol:
