It’ll become popular again after the market crashes again:manny:
This is the flow of things.

everything is good: “we can afford [insert progressive venture]” “we can fund anything” etc.

we crash: “it’s time to make tough cuts” “govt is shutting down until an agreement can be reached” etc.
You can afford it if the rich and corporations paid taxes. They don't and won't so you're right

If the GOP cared about fiscal conservatism they would support cutting the military and not giving out trillions in tax cuts that helped run the debt up to insane heights. The only things they want to cut is things that help poor people. Fukk em.

Gang violence...
i think it's pretty obvious that income inequality is driving most of it, and then demographic change is driving the rest. they dont have the luxury to worry about being fiscally responsible when they are not hitting financial milestones for a white adult and are seeing more brown children on the playgrounds. they can feel themselves sliding down the totem pole and telling them about tax cuts isnt going to move the needle.

Still haven’t seen a working model for this...:manny:
In every real world example, it’s the citizenry that is heavily taxed. Especially the middle class.

...nations don’t seem to think making corporations foot the bill is the way to go.

Iirc progressive nations with all of the bells and whistles progressive favor currently have lower corporate tax rates than the US.

Edit: sorry kinda zoned out thinking about the corporate tax increase:russ:
We should definitely close loopholes and make these people pay.

In theory, there are some good points in fiscal conservatism, but they've showed their hand. They sound like some clowns now when they talk about fiscal responsibility, patriotism, or even Christianity. I guess you really do reap what you sow.

Because there’s a middle class to tax?

Cause they aren’t falling into poverty/debt recovering from cancer?

I don’t think anyone thinks you just tax corporations until they bleed. The point is that they’ve used their political influence to lessen their burden which has the consequences of shifting to the middle class.

If corporations were really just dodging taxes they wouldn’t need to put so much money into getting politicians to write loopholes and tax breaks. The smartest guys in the room would just shift some ones and zeroes and keep their million dollars in donations in their pockets.

The reason there are less IRS agents and audits isn’t some genius plan. It’s easier to rob a bank with fewer guards and cameras.

Don’t we already one of the highest corp tax rates?:patrice:
Does making America the most expensive place to do business really provide more benefit to the people at the bottom than reducing cost?
:jbhmm:
Leftist just want to own corps/the rich even if it hurts them... the same way rethug voters just want to own libs...
#Murica

Edit:

The U.S. has the highest top corporate tax rate at least among advanced economies. Compared with nations in the OECD — the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, a group of highly developed countries — the U.S. has the highest top corporate tax rate in the world. The top corporate tax rate in the U.S., a combination of federal and state and local taxes, is nearly 39 percent this year. That's well above most other OECD nations.

Is the cost of business the only asset America has? Innovation? Upward mobility for lower class? :sas1:You make it sound like a prostitute and a pimp. That she’s nothing without him.

Why doesn’t Amazon or Google move to one of those low tax, low cost states like Mississippi or Tennessee?

It’s almost like corporations stay in high tax states like New York, Cali, or Washington cause a competent workforce requires a higher standard of living and increasing longevity of assets like quality schools and healthcare.

If you buy into the idea that America only stays ahead on the exploitation of workers, you see why a resource rich place like Africa stays at the bottom.

They have proven they only have interest in these policies except when dems have control so this is exactly how it should be.
Exactly.

The whole framing of this is like the rank and file have abandoned them and not them just playing lip service to fiscal priorities that didn’t line their pockets and special interest.
