There's nothing cultured about grilled cheese. This simplicity is what makes it great. He tried to go high brow and somehow managed to completely miss the point which is why he failed miserably.

Of course not all cheese melts but guess what you need for a grilled cheese sandwich...cheese that melts:heh:

I've seen plenty of restaurants and food trucks make it differently with all kinds of different bread, cheeses, and other random ingredients so you can flip things. You still have to nail the basic requirements though.

He should have just said it's a cheese sandwich. You add grilled to the tile you better delivery on the expectations. That's like putting filet mignon a roll with gruyere and calling it a cheese steak.
:wtb: But that is a cheese steak. It's not a Philly cheese steak and that leads to the reason you don't understand this video and different cultures.

It's not called a melted cheese sandwich. You're using our (US) version of a grilled cheese as the example of what that sandwich is.

We make spaghetti and put the sauce over the top. In the place it was invented (Italy) they toss the pasta with the sauce before they put it on the plate. Does that mean we don't eat spaghetti? No it means it's the same thing made different ways.

This sandwich looked good. I skip the butter and put the olive oil on the back side of the bread, allows everything to melt quite well with a great crunch.
