Gospel singer accused of sexually abusing man he lured to his home with promise of a NJ Transit job
prominent New Jersey gospel singer and religious leader is accused of sexually abusing a man in his Newark home after luring him there with the promise of a job with NJ Transit.
Albert J. Lewis Jr., 75, told the victim that he could get him the job, but first he’d have to get more information by visiting an address in Newark — which turned out to be Lewis’ home, said the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The 41-year-old Congolese national showed up, and Lewis said he’d have to perform a physical examination to make sure he was fit for the NJ Transit post, prosecutors said.
Lewis told the man to strip, then performed an “act of criminal sexual contact,” prosecutors said.
Lewis was arrested Tuesday and charged with criminal sexual contact, unlicensed practice of medicine and luring of an adult.
Lewis is the executive director of the Dr. Albert J. Lewis Gospel Hour, described by NJ.com as which the second longest nationally syndicated gospel TV shows in the country.
Lewis, who was released as he awaits trial, could not be reached for comment Thursday.
