If they did I doubt he'd backtrack immediately like he did. He knew he fukked up.

In many cultures it is accepted to have a side chick as long as it's kept hush hush. His backtracking has more to do with that than the actual fact that he has a side chick.
Similar situation hapenned to me a while back. My main knew i had a side chick. She's known this since before we got together. She never made a big deal about it until she and her friends SAW me with the other chick while we were out and ran into us.
