any brehs ever been in this situation? Got a ticket Saturday for going 15 over the speed limit

This is my first ticket in 6 yrs, and so the trooper told me I can request a defensive driving course to keep it off my record, and to keep it from affecting my insurance

but when I called today, they're telling me that not only do I have to pay the ticket, but I have to pay to take the defensive driving course too

Kinda seems like a racket type of deal, and I'm worried about them still putting it on my record and it hitting my insurance, even though I did the course

Depends on your insurance company. You won't know until it's time to renew. :yeshrug:

You can always negotiate with them if they do, or shop for rates elsewhere. 1 citation in 6 years is good. Plus you didn't have to file any insurance claims for it.

Insurance companies don't negotiate when it comes to speeding violations, underwriting criteria and state laws don't allow it.

Nah this legit. You have to pay the ticket regardless but it costs like an extra 25-30 with the defensive driving course,as long as you complete the defensive driving class within the time frame they give you.You won't get a conviction and your insurance won't go up

Trust me I know mines doubled since last year after 2 convictions :mjcry:

Nothing will change. Only if you get a guilty conviction does the charge become real.

Thats how it is.

Either pay or have it on your record for years. I paid off mine and now my record is CLEAN.

Im sure they got payment plans if you ask them.

Do not pay the ticket! Points will be applied to your license immediately.

Request hearing. Go to court. Plead guilty with explanation. Make up some BS about you being in a rush for something and losing track of speed. Say you have a great driving record and you would like to request driving school instead of points. They will make you still pay the ticket, but may reduce it a bit. You don't care about that though. You just have to spend a Saturday or Sunday in class. You won't have points on your license though

Sign the ticket to say you want a court hearing. Take the driving course before the hearing (online). Go to the MVA/DMV and get a copy of your driving record. 20 percent cop doesn't show up, 50 percent, in juris with a pros, that they drop, if just a judge, 80 percent judge drops charge and just order court fees (maybe $30)

:francis: Y'all nikkas do know whether or not he pays, has it dropped, prayer for judgement, etc..It's still going to be reported by the DMV at the time his insurance company runs his driving history.

A dismissed ticket does not show up. I got one dismissed after a deferred and it never showed up anywhere.

The conviction is what matters.

Had 3 failure to appears for speeding and warrant.

Call the best traffic lawyer in the area you have the ticket and it will be annihilated or at the least he will help get you a lesser charge and you will pay the court money and not get points on your license which will hurt your insurance.

Ah be damned if I have 3 speeding tickets on my insurance :mjlol:

Exactly. Represented Dui first timers. Get the counseling course, etc. and get a PBJ. After 6 months off the record. Not a conviction. 15 miles over speed limit lol (unless Virginia)

Worked in underwriting for Allstate and State Farm and still hold my licenses. It'll show up on the reports that the INSURANCE COMPANY runs, it'll show the outcome but that shyt is never hid from them

Doesnt really matter because they cant do anything like raise insurance costs or cut your insurance as long as its not a guilty verdict. Still a Win. :lolbron:
