You say they bring it on themselves but if you look deeper it was brought upon them by an oppressive system that made them into what they are. They are violent idiots, yes, but they are victims.
All I'm saying is dreads are one of the coolest hairstyles around is predominantly from our culture. It sucks we can't rock it without being profiled as a being malicious. Most people I've met who have dreads are smart dudes and girls with their mind right and are very conscious. I hate that they have to be looked at as dangerous by not only whites but many of our own just because they wanna keep it black and not get a #1 at the barbershop to make a white boy feel safe to give him a job.
You have to come to the city to see it. I've seen plenty of people with nice dreads, but these aren't those people. Most of them look like Gunplay, higher than the Hubble and angry. Just plain and flat out angry. We can rightfully lay blame to a system that failed them, etc.., but they are angry. So yes, dreads can be rocked, but when the rest of the attire and presentation makes them look like a menace 2 society extra, that's where the trepidation comes from. You should know that if you want to be the part of something, you dress that way. Segway here, this one woman I work around, says that she wants to be a director for the department of the hospital I work with. I look at her, while friendly with her and think she's a nice person, but I think in my head that you don't even do your hair half the time, wearing family reunion and RIP shirts and shyt. You are simply judged by everything in most instances. Just because we are secluded from the rest of the hospital and our dress code is more lax doesn't mean that you should even though we are allowed to. I'm always dressed like I have to address something that is important.
My point is that it's the overall presentation, it's not just the hair. Pants off of their ass, talking loud as hell, square behind the ear. We know that look because we've all see someone like that. It's when you see all that and the dreads just becomes background noise to the overall composite of the person.
