Jay owns such a tiny ass mount of the team. I'm sure if you had 20K to blow you'd have a chunk too. When you do a team partnership for ownership you're welcome to trade whatever cash for a stake so the cost for individuals is less. No you just can't read. One million would not have caused the deal to fall through. There is no need for Jay-Z's cash in the deal - key word being need. If Jay never pays up, the Nets still go to Brooklyn. Financial acceptance does not equate to necessity.
I have nothing against a black man making power moves. On the topic of power moves, this surely isn't one of them.

And yet none of anything you've said shows how Jay-Z had huge pull, or was "the key" to them moving to Brooklyn, or that he owned a substantial amount of the team.

To see why Jay even bought a stake in the Nets or why Bruce wanted him in is very well documented, just google it. Sports team investments are usually the worst unless you use a lot of leverage (borrowed money). For what Jay-Z put in financially, the returns (financial or otherwise incl network) have been super phenomenal - awesome deal by any metric.
