Got a friend on an oxygen tank now, after catching it.

How old are they? Because I didn't need an oxygen tank or a vaccine. It sneaks up on you like the typical flu, then next thing you know you can barely move and you're sleeping 18hrs a day. I loss my sense of taste, all I could smell was metal, my head was killing me, and my cough sounded like I was dying. When I got diagnosed the cac doctor didn't seem to give a fukk, he told me to quarantine and drink lots of fluids.

I quarantined for 2 weeks and ate Minestrone soup and drank a ton of lemon juice & ginger tea, and the next thing I knew I was feeling a million times better. I still get a little winded if I speak too long and I still have a slight cough, but it's shocking how hard Corona hits you. You literally go to sleep expecting to not wake up again.

Age is a factor and state of health is a factor, but they're not the only factors. It can also depend on things like how aggressive your own immune system is (some people's immune systems overreact and cause the auto-immune issues that are a big cause of death), or even how large a dose of the virus you got initially (the larger the dose, the more likely of a severe case).

As of January over 20,000 people in America aged 18-49 had died of Covid. In a normal year only about 1,000-3,000 people in that age range die of the flu. So the disease has proven deadly even for younger people at a rate far higher than flu and other similar illnesses have.

The problem is the CDC needs to provide more concrete goals. After 2 weeks last March, no one is going to listen to "just wait". Massachusetts just removed capacity restrictions for a bunch of businesses. Texas is not alone in starting to reopen.
