My main issue with the anti immigrant movement is that most of the arguments are steeped in racism. But in a practical sense the fight for immigration effects immigrants/illegals themselves and offers little to the american voter. Why cant they negotiate some aid for puerto rico?

Or Climate change measures?

Right now theyre falling right in line with the right's "Democrats are anti american they care more about xyz than the average american" narrative and feeding the populism beast for no reason.
