Look, there are clearly consequences to this shut down, but millions facing eviction? You don't get evicted after one month of non payment. The hyperbole on both sides doesn't help the situation

1. They said "could be" facing eviction. Which is true if the shutdown continues to push forward. No hyperbole, just facts. This isn't silicon valley where everyone is making $150k and have millions in their bank accounts...
2. Did you bring me a souvenir from your business trip?

You do if you can't catch up on your payments. :manny:
Still takes more than one month to even start the process of eviction, and in an instance such as this, the courts will work with the tenant more favorably. Everyone except those is the most landlord friendly cities are gonna be ok if this shyt doesn't cross the two month mark

no, I'm not, the point I'd they put out "scary numbers" for clicks. A lot more nuance to eviction than "missed payment = out"
It's straight forward. The idea that government workers would have to go to small claims or district Court to contest an intent to evict or eviction notice caused by the government shutdown is a big deal.

The idea that workers will have to use their time off for this, if available, only compounds it.

That's before we even get to the point that they likely won't receive their back pay right away or in the case of contractors, maybe not at all.

The reality is millions of people could be affected by the threat of eviction. Whether they are evicted or not is really here nor there on the conditions inflicted on the workers because the president is throwing a tantrum.
