So if the Dems don't take the deal do they lose support?

At this stage does it matter or is letting Trump know he can't negotiate while hold government hostage more important?

:patrice:

They need to reject this on general principle because Trump's behavior shouldn't be rewarded or encouraged.

Plus the wall is unpopular in the first place. Taking this deal won't gain the Dems any support, it'll just piss off their base.

If Pelosi agrees to this she needs to :camby:

They'd probably only lose support amongst those who claim they vote D but never actually do.

1. I think most Americans sympathize with ppl losing their jobs over something they had no control over.

2. These workers provide a convenience and service to most Americans in certain industries and if this shutdown continues that inconvenience and impact will be widespread.
Yep. Especially if you've ever been there yourself. I've been without a job but never hungry as I learned how to handle tough situations early in life. But everybody isn't blessed with that and some of these people have obligations that wouldn't even if they did.

This shyt affects us all in some form or fashion. So to be nonchalant? And it's not even about being an activist @the cac mamba . You sound right wing as hell saying crap like that.

You have to be an activist to have sympathy for folks? What kinda rush limbaugh bs is that?

no, because no one gives a fukk about illegal immigrants besides illegal immigrants. who would they lose support with :yeshrug:

The contents of the deal don't matter to me. The focus is basically on the wall and the workers.

My question was relating to Trump changing the narrative (or trying to) by claiming that he tried to meet the Dems in the middle and they still wouldn't budge.

Does that change perception among people watching the spectacle? Bearing in mind folks really aren't informed about what's going on.

What narrative wins, Trump is trying but the Dems are stubborn? Or, Trump is holding the government hostage like a terrorist and Americans do not negotiate with terrorists?

The deal is a joke the supreme court failed to take up DACA Challenge meaning the dreamers are safe and secure for another year and this offer from trump is reeking of desperation its bs incremental help to tps and daca recipients temporarily.

Pelosi should refuse to give this white supremacist fool anything, he has to learn that this is divided government his lackeys paul ryan and mccarthy dont control the house and bend over to do his bidding.

Pelosi should under no circumstances bring a bill to the house floor with wall funding if it does not include PERMANENT status protection and CITIZENSHIP eligibility path for dreams as well as increases in legal migration significant manner.

The speech is another propaganda media bs attention grabbing speech.

Pelosi needs to just not fund the wall, period. :yeshrug:

It's a stupid idea in the first place and the majority of America is against it. Not only is it waste of money but think about what the wall means symbolically.

He's going to have to do better than DACA and TPS. That's not going to get you $6B.
It worked for Obama. They punted on immigration reform. Rinse and repeat. Did yall forget the Gang of 8? Gang of Eight (immigration) - Wikipedia

This is precisely why I rail so hard against this issue.

It takes Democrat votes and pushes people towards republicans and abstaining from voting.

I swear to whatever-god-you-believe-in that it does.

they're gonna do it.

The DACA protections are what even Sam Seder would be necessary. Give Trump his money and slow walk his stupid fukking wall.

I keep telling yall illegal immigrants are a weak spot in the democrats platform. We can't keep doing this shyt for illegals.

Ya'll stay trying to come at me for this...but look at the fukking results.

Illegal immigrants are NOT good for the democrats. Its always a losing proposition.

Cause we still dont have immigration reform.

We still don't have changes in immigration that help black immigrants (illegal or not)

We still have a tenuous protection for DACA and illegals which Trump can just change at the drop of a fukking hat.

This is always a losing proposition.
This is bullshyt, DACA was already in place it was trump that canceled it remember? it was him that decided to upend that system. The supreme court refused to take up the trump DACA Challenge meaning that daca is safe for minimum another year.
This is far more than a wall, it is whether a president can threaten to shut down the us government if the duly elected members of congress and speaker of the house refuses to bend over and bow down to his idiotic demands.

What next? Take away healthcare or else i will shutdown the gov? roll back more regulations or i will shutdown the gov? If you reward a political terrorist like trump he will do it again. Trump has to be defeated and get it in his head that pelosi is not ryan who bent to his will and that democrats took 40 seats from his party in the midterms and thus it has consequences.

Remember when trump rammed brett kavanaugh down the throats of liberals? Because he had the votes and he was president and elections have consequences? OKay great. Democrats have 40 seats now and his tantrums and demands will no longer have any affect.

How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?

If they give in, it’s a path for Trump to get wins in a Democrat majority house. He will pull this or similar levers for the rest of his time in the WH if we accept it. All we have heard for 2 years is “elections have consequences”, well, they sure do, and the country said last November, time to get this fukkface out of the paint. Not 1 Republican will hold this fukkfaces feet to the fire, and if we give in on this, he will find other things to hold hostage, we CANNOT give this a$$hole a victory under any circumstances. The president or the Republican lawmakers have not felt the kind of pain that they need to, he needs to go back to his 32% and shrinking, and say “wall is not happening”, that is the only way, if we give in, or even give him hope, we might as well just check out.

Exactly the wall in the head of him and his white supremacist supporters is a symbol to keep the ''non whites'' from coming to the country. More serious than that in my opinion is trump must learn and accept that he has no leverage, you do not control the speaker as you controlled paul ryan , enough of giving in to his tantrums and demands. Democrats took 40 net gain seats in the midterms and their voters should demand they do not bend over to this white supremacist.

I am glad pelosi is in charge if this was schumer the weakling would have given in.

Heres the thing though... You know I agree with you.

But Trump really will hold this shyt hostage. He does not give a fukk. About anyone.

Even republicans are saying Trump is wilding right now. You can't negotiate with a dude like that.

You just give him enough air in his bag to suffocate himself later when the air runs out.
