fukk automotive school. You don't get paid shyt unless you really bust yo ass.
Isn't that every school? :heh:

I know what you're saying though. It's not an easy job but I think that's all trades and why they'll continue to have a shortage. They may be in demand but that shyt will wear on you quickly.

Law school ain't the business. Johnnie Cochran had nikkas thinking this is a route for us like Basketball when it's basically Golf with Tiger Woods. Some industries are white and Jewish. Maybe some Asians sprinkled in with Indians. Yes, if you are an elite Boule, you got a chance but you already know if you that or not. If you aren't, don't think you are.
I do not have a mindset like that but my highest LSAT score was 143 so I wasn’t getting into any respectable law schools.

I am going back for a BS in Accounting. Already been accepted. Accounting is something everybody can’t and don’t want to do. There’s a huge market for accounting just by specializing and/or dealing with your own people. Black people make up 5% of all accountants.

College doesn’t make you smart. Just makes you parrot dumb talking points. Majority of people aren’t there for the right reasons anyway. Most people are just too ignorant and follow right into the system and end up in debt.

Finishing up my masters next summer and wife is working towards her doctorate. Smart thing to do is get a job in higher education, no matter what that job is, and take advantage of tuition remission. They are paying for both of our degrees and will cover my kids when they are college ready.

You can be a janitor at the school and take advantage of the benefit.

Uncertain grounds
Having a skill that can be monetized is imperative

Having a skill that is premium enough to start your own business with is even better

Plumbers, electricians etc are getting old with so many younger gen x and gen y people going the undergrad route rather than vocational

There is a definite need in those sectors and once the barrier of entry is overcome people are plush

Easier said than done and the work can be very physically demanding but I think the positives outweigh the negatives by a pretty good margin.

There is more freedom in the trades as well when someone has established themselves. Even if someone is 5-10 years and a few raises into corporate they may still be stuck to the same 9-5 grind which can be demoralizing

I dont see anything wrong with what DeSantis said here though its obvious hes playing to his base

Fukk Trump
I don’t think it’s that deep. For instance, Many in STEM aren’t really politically leftists themselves. Even in the Bay Area, many of those white collar workers(white males, Asian males etc) are moderate at most. Plenty of blue collar folks vote left in these areas. Many highly educated ppl are moderate or right of center. Education doesn’t automatically mean one is going to vote left.
Oh its very deep.
Youre not seeing the entire picture.
Its not automatic that you will vote left, but clearly more likely.

A new report complicates simplistic narratives about race and the 2020 election
Look at the 17% gap in whites with and without college degrees.
Thats the difference between Trump being in the White House again instead of Biden.
Turn on Fox News, and theres at least 1 segment a day trying to downplay college and say its inherently a negative thing.
They are also aware of the data.

Like somebody said, he has to appease his demographic for votes and attention. Once you realize elected officials' entire careers center around that point, all of their actions make sense.

Also, cynicism aside, colleges really are the closest thing to a scam. It's a moneymaking system. Only majors from a certain list end up giving graduates skills that translate directly into careers.

Vast majority of degrees are just paper. I'm three years removed from my initial undergrad and that fact needs to get put on billboards, social media blogs, etc. But it would start fukking with schools' money so they most likely have some defense against it. Which reveals another societal lesson that I'm sure yall can guess.

If yall have kids, young relatives, or acquaintances thinking about school, tell them the facts so they know what to do from jump. Plenty of genius kids (especially minorities) go in not knowing a damn thing about the process by design.

Don't regret doing a math degree after not being sure about what I wanted.

Can be applied to pretty much everything

People should only go to college if they know what careers they have in mind and the degrees they will need
