Remember that bullshyt driver's responsibility fee?

Judge William Kelly over here in Kentwood was instrumental in getting that removed. He called it double jeopardy, and a tax on the middle class/poor/working poor.
He was tired of seeing the same people showing up for court and accruing more fines because they were driving on suspended licenses because they couldn't afford to pay for their original fines.
I got caught up in that cycle. I got a ticket coming home from the D. Paid the ticket and thought that was that. A year later I get pulled over in Kentwood because of my headlight. Cop said I had a warrant. I'm like WTF for? He told me I'd find out at my court date. It was because I didn't pay that bullshyt $1000 driver responsibility fee for that speeding ticket. I didn't even know that shyt existed. It had been about ten years since my last ticket, and that was a parking one. Judge Kelly was a real one for that.
