GPS in other Countries (offline)

I am trying to have a GPS in another country without using the one from the car rental place. I have used Google maps in the past and it works great but it uses up any Data I have with the Sim card I buy when i enter the country.

I want to use it Specifically for the country of Brazil

Anybody know a way around this? @Malta

Nokia phones are the best for this, but yea you basically download the map before you go to the country

You can buy a Garmin and download international maps, they sell them for canada,Mexico,South America and Europe

I haven't tried it, but sounds like GPS will work, but you wont get turn by turn navigation.

The one you linked earlier gives turn by turn directions? (Can't open that link at work)

It claims to work with only GPS and no data necessary at all, and offers turn by turn. I'll test it out later, I have the cracked APK for it.
