Undun was a great album......but it wasn't the best Recent Roos album ( How I Got Over takes that title currently) and it wasn't better than LIG.

And I see where your argument is coming from, but you CANNOT say that there isn't a type of popularity contest or bias amongst the history of the Grammy's when Lil Wayne and Eminem have Grammy's for severely underwhelming projects and Nas doesn't (not even a nomination for Stillmatic, Gods Son, or Distant Relatives is a travesty)

yeah, Distant Relatives I thought would win eaaaaaaaaasily.. shyt wasnt even nominated was it??. That album dominated the reggae charts for months.. I mean months...

on top of that, the content was deep

In this thread, Nas stans try to rationalize to themselves how the award that they said had no credibility is now going to be the definitive cap on his career and how based on contrived momentum he is going to win it. While ignoring the past history of the rap album of the year award in which the biggest rap album of the year has always won.

That about sums up this thread. If Nas does win this award, for which Drake has to be the favorite (and I don't even fukk with dude like that), it will be because people in that boardroom decided to buck the trend and give him a career achievement award. It will not be because of "momentum" or whatever random barometers you guys are making up. This award has always been about the biggest record of that year. You even had people talking posthumous record to say that's why Cherry Wine will win when the Grammys don't give a damn about that shyt in regards to Hip Hop and they gave it to Diddy over Life After Death.

Nas is one my 3 favorite rappers ever, but you're setting yourself for disappointment if you think they're about to buck this trend for him. The rap album of the year is almost always the rap album that sold the most and/or had the most hits. Do you think the people who have been handing this shyt out the past few years just disappeared? If he wins, it's because they go against history.

First of all I fail to see how Life Is Good's release translates into "contrived momentum" when the album itself has been both commercially and critically successful. Nas built his momentum steadily since last years release of Nasty and the accompanying video, plus his stream of killer guest features. His album was basically sold out the week of release, he hit number 1 on the charts with projections EXCEEDING expectations, and has continued to tour, release videos, and support the album throughout the year.

Secondly, weren't you the one in a previous thread arguing on how the Grammy's isn't a popularity contest with the example being that random chick last year who beat Bieber and Drake for Best New Artist? I'm pretty sure she sold nothing close to those two artists and yet the trend was "bucked" and it was decided that her release was strong enough to merit her the best new artist of the year. So why can it not be the same way with Nas this year? Drake's album was pretty good but according to critics (not just Stan's) Life Is Good is the better album (81% Universal Acclaim on Metacritic compared to 78% for TC generally favorable) Why would it amount to a lifetime achievement award and not simply that its the BEST Rap Album released within the year?

Again, I won't even be all that upset if Drake wins it, I enjoyed TC immensely. But Life Is Good is the better album by a wide margin and DESERVES to win.

You are the face of everything my post is talking about my guy. You live in a fantasy world, I don't need to refute anything you just said because my last post did that. Read it again slowly. I'm trying to let you down easy, and I don't intend to be condescending in saying that. I even gave the circumstances under which he may win lol. Anyone who knows my anti-Drake tendencies on here knows that I probably would be more upset if he won than you are. Secondly, no I wasn't talking about Bieber and that other chick in any other thread to my knowledge. You got the wrong guy. But that has no basis in a discussion about "rap" categories at the Grammys. None at all.
