Extremely slowly and boringly... IIRC I pretty much had the fuel mix set to lowest for the whole thing... anytime you get near the top of a hill, coast all the way down the hill. Only ever use enough power to get you to the next place you can coast.
One of the upsides of your country having ridiculously high gas prices your whole life is that you learn how to get a car home on fumes from a young age.
