Who told you they can't digest all that? They can and do digest most of it. Takes them a while and they are the most vulnerable (pythons) after a large meal because they try to find a spot to hide and let the stomach acids break down the meal which can take weeks. If you live in places with Python's. This is the time when you kill them. That's why it was easily caught. It was sluggish and full.

I don’t know about frogs, but I grew up with family members saying the same about snakes. Something like they were cursed to the ground or something like that. I just know I’ve always been repulsed by them. Grew up in a coastal area where they were quite common; moccasins and copperheads.
