Two people were killed and another was wounded in a drive-by shooting on West 70th Street in Shreveport the evening of Sunday, Aug. 22.


Police clarified some details Monday, Aug. 23, saying a man died and another man was wounded at 5:36 p.m. Sunday at Linwood Avenue at West 70th Street.

That’s where more than two dozen crime scene markers could be seen in the street in front of Linwood Public Charter School.


At 6:11 p.m., police were summoned to East 70th Street at Gilbert Drive. That’s where a woman was found dead in the back seat of a car.

Authorities now say that she too was a victim of the drive-by shooting in front of Linwood Public Charter School.

Family members have since identified her as 19-year-old Paris King.

Paris King, 19, was fatally wounded in a shooting while sitting in the back of a car on Saturday, Aug. 21 in Shreveport.(Family members | Family members)

The driver of the vehicle in which the woman was found told police that he sped away after his vehicle was fired upon then stopped at East 70th at Gilbert Avenue when he realized she had died, a police spokesman said.

The driver and his other passenger were not injured.

Police closed West 70th between Linwood and St. Vincent Avenue and East 70th at Gilbert while they investigated.
