Does this album not have a common theme throughout the tracks?

Does this album not have a common theme throughout the tracks? If you don't think so, you need to get your listening game up. Don't just skim through it...![]()

You're reaching, breh. Illmatic must be a concept album too because Nas said the word "nikka" in every song.![]()

Come on, man... You can't be serious.

What does Ice Cream have to do with Verbal Intercourse, breh? I missed the connection there.
Hmmm, now that I think about it, those are 2 songs I need to put on my iphone. You may be on to something.![]()

You don't see the connection, breh? Intercourse means sex. And Rae, Meth and Ghost want to have sex with the bytches in the Ice Cream vid.![]()
There's a distinct connection![]()

Wow did I just set myself up for that one?![]()
I think that was more a coincidence than anything. What about Knuckleheadz or Heaven and Hell? Are you saying the theme for the purple tape is sex?
I know I was relatively young when that came out and I didn't fully understand all the lyrics I was memorizing back then. But I wouldn't consider Cuban Linx a concept album at all. Dope? Yes. But a recurring theme? I didn't get that.![]()

How about the maffia/ drugdealing theme?
I know it's not a straightforward story throughout like say a Good Kid mAAd City, but there's somewhat of a linear story within the album. From young eager up-and-coming drugdealer on Knuckleheadz to a drug-dealer questioning his very lifestyle on Heaven & Hell.
I would definitely say this album has a recurring theme throughout...

I feel you but I still disagree a bit.
Gangsta rappers rap about gangsta shyt, conscious rappers rap about conscious shyt. So in that sense, most albums are gonna have some sort of theme. Guess I was just thinking of themes a little less subtle.
Good shyt though.

werent they going to make that sticky album a live movie also?

Death of Adam by 88-Keys. Criminally, criminally underrated album.
Dude has a joint on there called "Stay-Up Viagra" with one of the best Ye features ever. Even now, shyt leaves me![]()
