Would you really consider that an "underground" release? The album is legendary and it did a lot as far as exposing alt/underground rap to casual music fans, but its sold more than 200k copies I believe :wtf:


Granted, the albums become sort of a cult classic and that's helped sales, but even at the release major media outlets were heavily plugging the album, and it had a nice debut on the Billboard 200.

The first couple Blackalicious albums/eps are amazing as well. This carried the tradition.

Sage Francis is slept on and unfairly hated(especially this specific era). the Non Prophets album was solid from start to finish.

Big Virt's first 2 albums are dope but the first one stuck with me the most. Dude is gifted and has alot of depth on his records in addition to the hard shyt

i liked Vordul from CanOx' first album. especially the songs Neva Again, Holla Ill, and Hard Times.
