Reminds me of my daughter :wow:. I love this song. I love his voice!

Speaking of Curtis, gotta show the Staples Singers some love.

Last but not least, my favorite Donny song. Gives me chills every time.

Songs like these two helped get a lot of brothers through Vietnam. I could tell my old Nam buddy, who disappeared on me over the last couple years, was hooked on this first song I'm posting here by the Whispers. He finally got on facebook. I could barely recognize him. He was wearing big coke bottles, his hair and mustache turned completely White, and it looked like the left side of his face may have been parallelized, with his right eye completely shut. But I did reach out to him several times when I went home last summer, and found out he was still alive, but he didn't answer his door, nor ever answered the phone, etc.. Sometimes you really gotta let these old cats go I guess, when they choose that route, even if y'all been hanging out for the last 25 or 30 years. But to be honest, I don't think he disappeared on me because he was sick. That really would be another topic.

Anyway, this song here by the Whispers reminded me a lot of my uncles when they were in Vietnam.

As an adult, I heard they actually band this song in Vietnam. I guess it sounded too much against the war. The things you don't know as a child.

The more songs I try to remember, the more I began to realize this never really was our rest I guess. Can't escape reality. A lot of heavy hitting songs in the 70's came out during the war, or around the time it ended, now that I think about. But it's all good. That's how we did it. I noticed one or two of the songs I posted can apply to the present days as well, with the rough times we're living in.

Anybody who listened to the songs on this thread, should know we are the Most High's chosen. Can't nobody do it like us. Try to get more positive than that. And this thread wasn't even about love songs. One song in this thread literally pointed out who we really are, although I never heard the song before. Definitely had to give that song a dap though. If this thread was about R&B love songs, and the site was dedicated to both sexes, like sites used to be, I really would have blew this thread up...lol. I've done it on other sites before.

I guess most of the positive Black music that was popular, and come to mind, already been posted on this thread. I guess we have to google the rest...lol.
