Read a couple of the Greg Maddux stories on Deadspin today, extremely entertaining.

As a kid I always chalked up every Maddux start against the Mets as an L :to:. I just hoped we got a run off of him. I've never been more afraid of one athlete when he faced my team then Greg Maddux in his prime.

You gotta tip your cap when a pitcher's brilliance can make you abjectly terrified of him when he comes to town. :salute: to one of the GOATs.

As a Braves fan it was an honor too watch that rotation in the 90's. Especially Maddux. You just knew he was only going to give up 2 runs at the most. And that was on a bad night.

The closest I can come to that feeling is being here during Zack Greinke's Cy season.

We knew the Royals sucked, but every 5th game everybody checked the schedule to
see if they were in town and the park would be packed...

This is ridiculous writing.
The article amounts to "hitting is timing; pitching is upsetting timing" -- Warren Spahn.
Baseball players have known this for well over 100 years.

Maddux was a masterful pitcher and deserves all the credit in the world for what he achieved in his career, but good lord this writer sucks.

What's next?
"Frank Thomas gripped baseball bat to reach hall of fame" ??
