I'm not questioning Michael Jordan's legacy, but I don't think I'd call him the most dominant player in the history of the game. When I think of dominant, I think of Wilt Chamberlain, Shaquille O'Neal with the Lakers, etc. Michael Jordan was probably the greatest and has done the most to impact the game, but he wasn't as dominant as a couple of other players in mind. Just my opinion though.

As a fan of both sports here is my input:

Statistically Gretzky is the most dominant player for his sport ever. Thats a fact. Theres an argument for 1 or 2 guys that could even come close to his level and thats barring thier health issues. Jordan impacted his sport more and meant more for his team but statistically there are a group of guys that come very close and could even argue are better.

As for the other bullshyt you guys are debating

NHL might have the smallest fan base of the "Big 4" but i believe it also has the highest concentration of die-hard fans. Theres not many casual hockey watchers it seems.

And just wanna say this for the record even though I am a fan. The NBA is the biggest pansy sport currently going. In the NBA i've seen guys not play literally for some shyt like a toe nail injury. Meanwhile in hockey guys have continued to play after loosing multiple teeth, getting concussions, broken jaws, for christ sake Mario Lemieux played a game several HOURS after getting radiation therapy for his Cancer. Even tho I am a fan basketball is easily the worst of the "Big 4" there is just no heart in the game.

Why are you generalizing? I was a hockey fan before basketball and that's all I used to watch being that I grew up in Canada. You're saying a whole lot of nothing right now, you don't know me or anyone here. I just excluded the Philippines in that post. They suck and the can't even play the game. I guess all countries that are UN members are democracies as well by that argument? I do exclude the Philippines.

Now why would you think I was downplaying hockey by saying Canada is not a sports country? It's not. In fact most people don't sit don't to watch sporting events, but you didn't know that did you? The super bowl recently got over 110 million viewers but that's just 33 percent of the US pop. Canada averages 2-3 million out of 35 for Saturday night hockey. The CFL can only get 1 million and 4 million for the grey cup. In fact only the only time they got over 15 million was for the last Winter Olympics and that was not for the whole game. But how does this take away from what I am saying? Do you think you know all 35 million Canadians, 310 million americans and the rest of the planet. Of course hockey is more popular in Canada, that does not mean everyone watches or cares. Same with b ball or football in the US. You're just talking because you can. Canada and the US are not one country, stop trying to make it seem like they are.

Oh and I grew up all around hockey, lived in breathed it. Only thing I used to watch. I'm sure Reign X can tell you it's everywhere. Yes you can like both. I do Reign does. I know people who like hockey, like both, like b ball, like neither. How does that play for you, since you know me so well. You don't live in Canada, probably have never been then, so what do you know, other then dragging this thread out for attention? Nothing. You're just as bad as the b-ball bashers.

Oh and nice touch about ESPN, it's all their fault for hockey not being that big in the US right? Not the 2 lockouts (up to that point) and the strike in the early 90's (you don't even know about that one.) So give me a break. You're just being contrary and it's annoying.

Who are you to exclude the Philippines when as you pointed out they a member of FIBA? Don't matter if they are great at the sport bottom line is they play and are a part of an international body that acknowledges countries who participate in the sport, whether YOU think they deserve to be mentioned when speakin of countries that play basketball or not is irrelevant cause YOU don't get to define the criteria. And the UN is not an organization based on which countries are democracies so once again you sound stupid as fukk, but I guess you arrogant enough to think you can create your own definition for the UN too.

You don't know me either and assumed I was solely a hockey fan when I'm a fan of both basketball and hockey myself and actually like basketball more, but unlike other nikkas in here I ain't gonna stan based on my favorite between the two. You generalizin yourself jackass, claimin the majority of Canadians don't watch hockey even tho Canada is notorious for bein crazy about the sport makes you look silly. You don't know 35 million Canadians either yet you have the audacity to think you can speak for most of them in direct opposition to the facts that are known about the country just cause you Canadian, I'm just pointin out what everyone besides you recognizes about the country that most Canadians watch the sport.

It seems your dumbass doesn't do well wit readin comprehension cause I never said US and Canada are one country in fact I've been highlightin the exact opposite by showin whats popular in one country isn't the same in the other, you mentionin the CFL proves my point outside of hockey no other sport has a significant fanbase and football is the second most popular sport there so that should tell you how few people in the country care about basketball.

For someone who says he knows hockey so well you made no sense wit your last post talkin bout 13 men and 8 women made the olympics, either you ain't aware of how many players are on a team or you too stupid to properly put a sentence together which would explain why you can't comprehend sentences. Again you're talkin out your ass, I clearly said the lockout was a big reason for the drop in the sports popularity I know that first hand cause I haven't watched as much since then. ESPN used to broadcast the games and dedicate alot of time reportin on it but once the NHL didn't reup wit them they didn't talk about it nearly as much, thats just statin a fact.

Whats annoyin is your hypocritical assumptions about me, I watched hockey religiously in the 90s so FOH wit that bullshyt. I genuinely don't co-sign the shyt you and alot of others are sayin and last I checked I didn't create this thread, this is a question that was posed to everyone and I'm respondin so if you don't like nikkas debatin the topic then GTFO. The only bashers in here have been hockey bashers yourself included, you just butthurt cause I disagree wit your majority opinion on here so you're whinin like a little bytch and throwin a hissy fit.

Ouch just saw my mistake in the post before. I should have said hockey is not more popular worldwide. Because I made that mistake StackMoney became a fool and ran with it.

Compare someone who plays hockey to a guy who dominates the best sport in the world brehs
 Basketball ain't even the best sport in this country, football >>>> and worldwide people would still say football (soccer) >>>>

So you're arguing it's easier to win an NHL title then, which is something I never argued against?
:snoop:The fact more teams have won recently than in the NBA shows its actually harder for a single player/team to win consistently in the NHL which is one of the reasons people gave for Gretzky bein more dominant, smarten up.
