Grimiest suburb/outskirt city?

Gary isn't a suburb.

That’s debatable. I know to people from Gary it’s for sure it’s own thing. Like if you ask Gary people where they’re from, it’s just Gary, and not Chicago suburbs. Gary people are just really proud like that. They get a kick out of standing on their own.

But to an outsider like me it’s a suburb all the way. It’s not even that far out as far as Chicago burbs go anyway. You got people from Waukegan and Kankakke that claim Chicago, those spots are way further out from Chi than Gary is. Then somebody like me from the A is looking at Gary and it basically the same distance from Chi that Decatur is from Atlanta, and we consider that the Eastside. Gary gets the Chicago news stations, Chicago news reports on stuff that goes on in Gary, and NW Indiana the only part of the state that’s on central time, because it’s so close to Chicago. And it’s also the shortest commute in town. Breh I can get from 5th & Broadway in Gary to 79th and Stoney Island on the south side in 15 minutes how I drive. So yeah. Gary is a suburb of Chicago if you ask me.

Shout out to the whole GI tho, The Valley, 25th Ave, Ivanhoe, Small Farms. I fukking love that town.

It’s the wealthiest majority black county in the nation but it does have its grimey spots. It’s a huge county and very diverse economically

Poor people got push out of Dc into PGC. Alot of the older folks in PGC got Govt and Contractor jobs. Their kids arent go getters, they let out of towners get all of the jobs.

You forgot to add Chicago/Ford heights but it’s not really a outskirt of the city

Chicago Heights is kind of hit and miss though. Ford Heights used to be kind of fukked up, but it wasn't quite on the Harvey and Robbins level of fukked up. As a matter of fact Harvey, Robbins, Maywood and East St. Louis are on their own level. Those are the gold standard of grimey.
