I don’t disagree with any of thisThey performed at the BET awards. That’s as mainstream they will get like Tyler. That song Scattered Brain by Con ft JID and Luda is dope. I want a nice balance of modern and throwback production from Griselda. I say this as a younger fan who loves and appreciates the golden era too as much as today’s production.
I think Griselda is just fine. Benny and Conway are each breaking out in their own ways (Benny with the albums with Hit-Boy and Harry Fraud; Conway with the shift in production as well as rapping with JID and other non-goon rappers), and they're doing great.
They'll never be mainstream in the way that Drake or Kendrick are mainstream, but they also aren't aspiring to that.
I think trying to step outside their lane more at a more drastic pace than what they've been doing would be trying too hard, and would definitely alienate their fan base. Hell, they've already made moves that have annoyed a few of their extra super crusty boom bap or die fans.
Modern production is just too overproduced and does not fit Griselda at all. They brought back the rugged more simplified beats from Daringer. I really hope they never venture too far from that original sound of Griselda. They performed at the BET awards. That’s as mainstream they will get like Tyler. They can pull it off.Modern production is just too overproduced and does not fit Griselda at all. They brought back the rugged more simplified beats from Daringer. I really hope they never venture too far from that original sound of Griselda.
I personally don’t like Conway on a track like thisThey can pull it off.
I mean he isn't wrong
Most people thought the Eminem feature was the worst part of Everything's for Sale
Griselda is in exactly the lane they aimed to be in & they shouldn’t change a thing. Not everybody aspires to be a superstar of the mainstream variety. That would totally compromise their sound and movement.
Conway was never signed to Shady as an artist. He has a distribution deal and not a label deal.
But definitely almost everyone that has had label deals with Shady has ended up with not much to show for it.
he's jid lemar
