They wanted to pay Bane, so DB had to go.

The GM told Shams to put under any circumstances in his report. And I'm still not sure why.

You can't stick it to Brooks, because Ja f'd up.

No one in Memphis is sticking it to Brooks. We're happy he got paid and found a role in Houston. The tribute was a nice touch and he got his applause.

But the fact of the matter is that despite his defensive credentials, he was a limited player within our offense who didn't want to accept his limitations. Jacking up dumb shots with 20 left on the clock. Fine, that's on Jenkins for not reigning him in, but we all can't have no-nonsense coaches like Udoka or Pop. He wasn't happy to take a smaller role or salary going forward. So there was nothing else to negotiate or work towards.

Shoutout to Udoka because no one saw this change in form. If they did he would be on a better team than the Houston Rockets. nikkas was (idiotically) saying he had to learn Chinese, but most teams in the league didn't see a need for him which says a lot.

The extra focus with the Lakers in town put disproportionate attention on the situation. Players get told they aren't getting resigned all the time. Again, drama queens gotta inflate.

That's the coaches job to reign him in though is it not? He's not even close to being a superstar player to have that type of clout to do whatever he wants, so the fact that he and the Grizzles management couldn't reign him in says more about them than anything.

Yes I bring up Grizzles management because people like to point out how young and lack of veterans on the roster, while overlooking the important detail that the management is chalked full of young guys including the owner as well.

Speaking of the owner Robert Pera, where is he as he's been quiet as fukk these past few years while all of these situations including with Ja have been transpiring.

Seems like he just ended up with a better coach :yeshrug: People are acting different like they weren’t saying he’s going to China and these other places lol. Like he was just taking dumb shots and doing other dumb things that I think could’ve been fixed. It seems that Ime fixed them. I haven’t heard anything bad about that man lately and now he hit a clutch three in their house. I think we can officially close that chapter of Dillon Brooks life now.
No there's a few of us in this thread who were saying from the beginning that he wasn't going to China and was going to get an NBA job next year especially with how much teams covet wings that can defend. Some posters just let his antics and the Bron shyt overshadow that important detail.

But so was Adams being out, Ja and Bane and JJJ's inconsistencies, and subpar rotations from the coach.
I must have missed it. Did Grizzly management release a statement saying this to Shams or only the shyt throwing Brooks under the bus?

Agreed, it is the coach's job to rein him in, but up to a certain point. Some players don't listen (look at players like Russ). So at a certain point, the GM, Zach Kleiman had a decision to make: is Dillon Brook's skillset worth the boneheadedness and extra media attention? It wasn't. Off you go.

(Old heads need to stop harping regarding veterans. Vets aren't magicians that can turn the culture around. They're just as likely to phone it in on a team with bad culture. Rose and Smart haven't done shyt for us yet).

The proof of this team's management won't be gauged by Dillon Brook's departure. It'll be gauged by how they manage Ja, Desmond and JJJ as the 3 start to enter their prime years. Can they surround the 3 with talent/experience, ensure they don't stagnate, and make this team serious contenders for a chip?

Say what you want about age and shyt, but I'll take Zach Kleiman over Chris Wallace thank you very much. Pera is a young cat but he does what he needs to do, fund the team, direct strategy and get out the way. He got Chris Wallace out and put Zach Kleiman in, which coincided with us cutting ties to the GnG era and bringing in the core 3. Strategically they've been on point in the last 5 years. I trust that if Taylor Jenkins doesn't do much once Ja gets back, Pera/Kleiman will let him go and bring in someone who can take this team to the next level.

They're already off to a mehhh start on that front considering they gutted the veteran depth on the roster and instead chose to pivot towards younger cheaper players due to having to pay Ja, Desmond and JJJ. They as in Pera went back on his word as he initially said he would pay to keep that team together. I also don't consider Smart much of an upgrade over Jones and his leadership aspect is overrated considering that there were only two problem childs in that organization. You can also place blame on Kleiman for not bringing in another big during the offseason even when it was obvious to them for months that Adams was going to be out for the season.

That Grizzles starting five even if healthy isn't enough formidable enough like Denver whose doing the exact same thing to put faith in a bunch of young players that obviously aren't ready for the role they're being put upon that Ziaire Williams pick was a bust.

That Pera criticism isn't new considering that a lot of media mention the same thing as well in how he never knows his name nor do most of them even know what he looks or sounds like. At least show your face sometimes to the city of Memphis.

Firing Jenkins would be making him the scapegoat for Kleiman ineptitude in plugging obvious holes in the roster in the offseason and reliance on a both of young dudes that haven't panned out yet.

Memphis was holding him back. Like I said in another post, the effort he gives makes him a valuable piece on any team he goes to. Nothing against Ja, but he was the player Memphis should have moved on from :yeshrug:
