I don't agree with how OP is talking about certain folks, but I now almost exclusively shop at higher end groceries. What I pay at the grocery store is absolutely worth it partially because I never get tempted to eat out which is super expensive, but I also get better quality on average. I have 3 grocery stores near me within walking distance but they are lower end...like meat is "USDA Inspected" so if you grab that ribeye, no matter how high your heat, the bytch boils rather than sears:stopitslime:

I recently got hip to Fresh Thyme

:banderas:I DRIVE to that bytch when I can walk to the others (I still do for minor things) and the price premiums are noticeable. I'm so bougie that my breakfast usually Heritage flakes with shaved almonds, dried berries, and KIND granola

Organic DOES taste better, so I typically get organic produce. Even my eggs are strictly the more expensive cage-free variety. Shout out to Happy Egg Co. For meat, I only trust Wild Fork.:banderas:

Whether I want grass-fed beef or venison (or even Kangaroo which is actually damn good), Wild Fork is the hookup. Seabass, Sockeye salmon, you name it.

Making the choice to cook 90% or better of my meals meant I stopped chasing deals and went to higher end spots, get great ingredients, and yes, the clientele are more of the :mjpls: variety in terms of income so the stores are cleaner, staff are more pleasant, and my meals hit the spot.

We got a Fresh Thyme in my nabe but I've never been. Thought it was like a Pete's or something.

Wild Fork is my shyt. Just picked up some cuts of lamb and duck on Friday. They got one in my hometown, too.

I usually shop at smaller joints as they're closer to my spot.

It's hard to justify the prices at Eataly but man....they have some good stuff in there.
Man Eataly dont play fair. They got fresh made pasta on the daily. All kinds.

Guanciale on deck how you like it. Some of the most finest olive oils.

3-4 things can def run you a 100. Not for the middle class at all

You ever notice how duck is impossible to find at supermarkets? But if you ever watch old movies or tv shows, it seemed like people ate duck all the time.
