Imoji released an app for Android users allowing "us" to send custom smilies via Text Message.

My main concern was that smilies were being sent as attachments instead of a smilie. It appears that this app solves that problem and I can send it to both Android and iPhone devices just fine.

I've yet to see how it works with older Android devices but here is the test I performed earlier on the Nexus 5:

You can just send a picture but it shows up as an attachment (which I mentioned). This app skips that entirely....

Yeah, I've seen Hoverchat on here before.

The only difference between imoji and the two apps you've mentioned is that imoji can send Coli smileys to any SMS app or social media account (at least FB, Twitter, and Instagram).

You can create your own smileys with the app too but I doubt I use it for that...
