Honestly that's what this is about.

GTA 5 has made nearly $9 billion. As it stands, they still earn roughly $500M/year with the online shyt.

Once GTA 6 drops, all the focus will shift and they're probably pressed to make sure the game is perfect. They gotta keep what made 5 so popular but upgrade everything else (character models, overall environment and the ability to interact with it, building interiors etc). It's going to require a little more "RPG" in its world building instead of being more action.

They also......might be trying to set it up so that it can drop on PS5/Series X, but then quickly pivot to PS6 and whatever other consoles drop. GTA 6 on PS6 would be the hottest combo in gaming history. If they keep pushing this back, they're going to have to consider releases on next-gen consoles and be prepared to drop something.

Honestly - 5 is a cash cow. It's rare to get something like that in gaming. We saw how Madden was a top seller for years despite falling off in quality over two decades ago. They just kept putting the same low quality shyt out there because people would buy it.

Masterpieces take time. This company created Red Dead 2, they can take as much time as they need if they're building something that will surpass an incredible game like that. And Rockstar is always late, this isn't anything new.

Yeah I never like being the person to say the atleast part too. But they definitely not trying to experience cyberpunk type issues off bat. People were mad with the studios for cyberpunk for delaying over and over, but when it came out when it wasn’t ready from that pressure and it was disastrous. Ended up being a success but that initial release negatively affected them. Given how monumental GTA5 was and the fact the graphics and everything look like something that came out today, this will probably be the greatest game of all time up until this point and it will be worth it to wait a little longer. Still doing stunts and hitting the strip club like

I know they scrambling trying to figure out how to get that GTA Online audience to all come over to gta 6. That has to be the hold up. They can't have another Red Dead Online moment or just have all these kids just stay playing the old shyt like they have been trained to do with Roblox, Fortnite etc. Oh well fukk em. That's what they get choosing mtx over dlc expansions.
