GTA Online fans are going to have to wait even longer for Online Heists to hit. The long-awaited feature has been delayed and currently has no release window.

Speaking in a comment on the Rockstar Newswire, the developer said, "We know many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Online Heists that we had planned to release for you this spring, and they are taking more time to create than originally anticipated.”

“We are very sorry for the delay, and are working hard to bring them to you as soon as we can. Please know that we are focused as always on making the best possible content for you to play and we are thankful to all of you for your patience, understanding and support.”

“Stay tuned for more information on that as well as lots of other ongoing content updates, enhancements and additions to the world of GTA Online that are on the way.”

The latest new content to be released for GTA V is the I’m Not a Hipster Update, which you can read more about through here. The game is also getting an enhanced re-release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It looks gorgeous. Watch the announcement trailer here.

I’m pretty impressed with Rockstar’s commitment to bringing in a steady stream of new content to Grand Theft Auto Online in the form of missions, guns, clothing, cars, etc. But the praise has a limit as they still have yet to deliver on the best fundamental concept of GTA Online, co-operative heists. And now after a promised deadline they’re a no-show, and Rockstar has to apologize for their absence yet again.

Today via Rockstar Newswire, the developer announced the release of the “I’m Not a Hipster” content pack, but had to issue an amended statement about the fact that online heists still haven’t made it into the game. They were promised to arrive in spring 2014, but spring has sprung and the game is still lacking the content.

Obviously co-operative heists are much, much more complex than the usual missions found in GTA Online, and if they were to at all emulate the ones found in the single player game that is likely a pretty intensive process.

But while I understand that heists maybe weren’t possible at launch, it does seem odd that not a single one has been released in nine months, considering fans of the online mode have called for nothing but heists since GTA Online’s debut. The game has released many content packs, but not a solitary heist.

This is Rockstar, however, known for taking their sweet time, but also with a reputation for delivering big in the end. I expect when heists finally do debut, there will be a quite a few and they’ll be exactly what players are looking for. Perhaps this will coincide with the PS4/Xbox One/PC release, somehow. But given that there’s no new promised time window for heists, it’s anyone’s guess when they’ll turn up.

I realize that Rockstar has a lot on its plate with the upcoming next-gen release and story DLC on the way, but this has been such a top fan request for so long, is it starting to get a bit strange that deadlines are missed and nothing has been made as of yet.

I have a feeling once GTA 5 makes it to PS4/One/PC the online mode will find a flood of players, some brand new, others that maybe put the game away along with their old consoles, but will be more than happy to dive into the new and improved version. Rockstar was always banking on GTA Online being a huge part of the GTA 5 experience, and to help fill the gap years ahead of the inevitable GTA 6.

I’d expect heists this fall given how things are moving with the series, but Rockstar’s timetable has been impossible to predict thus far.

The post unfortunately doesn't mention when we might see online heists, which are co-operative multiplayer missions, but it does say that more content updates, enhancements, and additions are coming to GTA Online in the future.

The GTA Online "I'm Not a Hipster" update is available now, adding fresh outfits, hairstyles, tattoos, masks, jobs, and custom weapons to the game.

Rockstar isn't slick, I know when I've been hustled. We all suspected that the Heists were being held back once the next gen versions were confirmed. But this pretty much confirms it. The promised Heists were the only reason I was stilling keep this game. Off to the bushes it goes, . Rockstar let me down with this bullshyt.
